I work from home, virtually! I spend my time taking conference calls, and working independently. I meet with folks to learn about their needs, and then create processes to help manage these needs. I also spend a lot of my time being creative, and making design elements in Photoshop.

Middle School Students
I think the first step is simply being a hard worker and learning to communicate effectively, and respectfully (making eye contact, not interrupting, not wasting their time, etc.) to everybody you interact with. Impressions go a long way and if you create a negative perception with somebody, that can be hard to repair. Strive to impress everybody you interact with and it will lead to success in the long run.
Get involved in various activities, inside and outside of school. The more you interact and network with others, the more effective you will be in interpersonal communication later in life. Experiences allow you to change your perspective when analyzing.
You don't have to have any idea what you want to be when you grow up, and even if you do, you might change your mind later. I would advise middle school students to identify a field of learning that you enjoy and are good at, and learn as much in that field as you can. Don't be afraid to teach yourself outside of a traditional learning environment; the internet is the great equalizer, in that the knowledge of the world is accessible at your fingertips.
