Monday through Wednesday, I teach open classes. I teach at a company in the city on Thursday. I take a class myself on Friday. On Saturday I teach the studio company—the top level of our school. Rehearsal is in the afternoon. Then I meet with staff, board members, or collaborators. I teach again in the evening. After class, I respond to emails and do admin work. I spend my nights on creative thinking—listening to music for a work I'm choreographing or watching a movie that connects with my work.

Each gig, so each day, is different. But common threads are: Prepare for rehearsal, be prepared practically so you have the tools you need at hand (music/images/ipad). Work in studio or on set with director, dancers and designer. End the day by evaluating what you did and beginning prep for next one.
Tasks & Responsibilities May Include
- Direct rehearsals to instruct dancers in dance steps and in techniques to achieve desired effects.
- Advise dancers on standing and moving properly, teaching correct dance techniques to help prevent injuries.
- Teach students, dancers, and other performers about rhythm and interpretive movement.
- Record dance movements and their technical aspects, using a technical understanding of the patterns and formations of choreography.
- Direct and stage dance presentations for various forms of entertainment.
