Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Parents:
You should be an accountant or a teacher. My parents really didn't push me one way or another. I did take an accounting class to make my father happy. I realized it wasn't my cup of tea. My parents let me find my own niche in life. I guess I'm fortunate compared to others.
How I responded:
You need to find what is going to make you happy. Find and discover your passion. It is important to find a career that you will enjoy since you will spend years in college to get a degree, certificate, etc. to allow you to enter the profession of your choice. Take the time to explore, ask questions, do fieldwork and internships, to get a feel of what the job or career is all about before you invest a lot of time, money, and yourself. I hear of too many people who are unhappy in their job or career.
