My path in life took a while to figure out
1.
Pursued a teaching certificate to teach middle school English. I didn't like parents.
2.
Became a consultant, focusing on instructional design, but doing whatever was important.
3.
Got a job as a weapons trainer through family connections. That was fun, but in an expensive area.
4.
Used my passion for teaching and ability to influence to land a job managing a call center.
5.
Moved and took a job training computer and home theater technicians in their roles.
6.
Found passion for knowing, recognizing, & avoiding regulatory risk to protect customers and agents.
Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Society in general:
If you work full time, you're just letting someone else raise your kids. Why would you even have kids if you're not going to stay home and raise them?
How I responded:
I am so proud that my children are growing up in a household where they see that I am a strong, professional, breadwinning woman! I am their mom, but I am able to do greater good in the world by doing the work I do every day. I also bring home so many life lessons for them from my job that I KNOW that they benefit. I still struggle with it at times -- but my core belief is that I am doing the right thing. I take comfort in that.
