Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Peers:
"Don't go to school, just work or you'll never be able to support your family"
How I responded:
Sometimes the path might be harsh, but never lose sight of what your goal is. In my case I realized that working while helping the short run would mean compromising my life and my son's life. That isn't something I could allow, and you have to remember that when things get tough. Rather then settling for good enough, shoot for the best.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
Between my son, and myself there was also my mother unable to work. From my Freshman year on I was the sole income into my house. I budgeted out everything and cut back the waste.
