Defining Moments

How I responded to discouragement

  • THE NOISE

    Messages from Peers:

"Don't go to school, just work or you'll never be able to support your family"

  • How I responded:

Sometimes the path might be harsh, but never lose sight of what your goal is. In my case I realized that working while helping the short run would mean compromising my life and my son's life. That isn't something I could allow, and you have to remember that when things get tough. Rather then settling for good enough, shoot for the best.

Experiences and challenges that shaped me

  • Between my son, and myself there was also my mother unable to work. From my Freshman year on I was the sole income into my house. I budgeted out everything and cut back the waste.
