My path in life has been direct
1.
My first job after college was underwriting life insurance. I developed passion for investigating.
2.
I worked in a team environment, so no individual ownership for handling claims.
3.
I wanted be responsible for my own claim workload, so I worked hard and was promoted.
4.
My family pushing me to go out on a limb and take the opportunity to experience new things.
Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Society in general:
Why would you want to be in insurance? You know that all insurance people do is cost you money, they increase your premiums for no reason. They don't pay what they owe and they are out to cheat you.
How I responded:
I told my family and friends that may be their perception but it's not accurate. There are many factors behind premium increases, including insurance fraud. The job can be challenging and stressful at times, as the majority of our day is typically spent on the phone helping people understand insurance and the process.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I was the oldest in my family and first to go to college. My parents were unable to help me financially; the burden was on me to pay for college! I worked 3 jobs through college, had to study and get good grades. I just did it, I had no choice.
