Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Friends:
You wont ever finish school. You will always be doing the same job.
How I responded:
At some point, you have to look at yourself and ask, can I do this. You have to look out for yourself and if you want to do better and prove people wrong, you will strive to make it happen. Many times in my old position, I told myself, "this isn't you, you can do better." It's that mentality that made me want more for myself. Watching everyone my age buy what they wanted, take trips when they felt like it, made me say, "I can do this". I wanted to prove everyone and myself wrong.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
Time was the biggest obstacle. I enrolled in college after I was already working 40+ hours a week. I had to continually make myself do my work rather than getting caught up in going out at night or getting distracted with other activities.
