How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Peers:
You'll never be anything better than a carpenter. You'll never get a raise until your get a degree. You're not a real teacher. You can't be a principal without another degree. Constantly, you can't, you can't, you can't.
How I responded:
I am the ONLY one who can determine what I can and cannot do. If I have the heart and mind to do something, then it is my choice to do it. I wanted to better myself for my family, and I found a way. I took 12 credits after work for 2 years to get my AAS degree. That was a 3 hour class every night Mon - Thurs. to make that happen, with my wife completing her Masters and our first child too. Those that want to make a difference will find a way to overcome the 'you can'ts'.
