Messages from Teachers:
Why aren't you doing something in the arts?
How I responded:
While I dedicated my youth to the performing arts, I knew I didn't want to pursue that path as a career. I did not believe my skills would allow me to make a career of it and I knew I had other skills which I could make a career out of. I decided to be a patron—rather than practitioner—of the arts. Even though I am only a couple years into my career, I have made it a priority to contribute to the arts and it gives me so much peace to know I am helping people follow their dreams.
